Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: April 2026
What this is
Heirloom Vocals is a service for preserving and stewarding the voices of real people — yourself, your loved ones (with their consent), or your loved ones who have passed (with appropriate authority). We take that purpose seriously, and so does the law.
This Acceptable Use Policy explains what you can and cannot do with our service. Violations can result in account suspension, permanent termination, deletion of your voice profiles, and — in serious cases — referral to law enforcement.
If you have a question about whether something is permitted, ask us first: conduct@heirloomvocals.com.
You may use Heirloom Vocals to
- Preserve and clone your own voice
- Preserve and clone the voice of a living person who has given you their explicit, recorded consent through our consent flow
- Preserve and clone the voice of a deceased person for whom you are legally authorized as next-of-kin or designated representative, after completing our deceased-consent attestation
- Generate audio in those voices for personal, family, memorial, or non-commercial creative use
- Share generated audio with family, friends, or designated beneficiaries
You may not use Heirloom Vocals to
Impersonation, fraud, and deception
- Clone any voice without proper consent
- Impersonate any person — living, deceased, public, or private — for purposes of deception, fraud, identity theft, or financial gain
- Generate audio that could reasonably be mistaken for a real recording without disclosing it is generated when shared publicly
- Create voice content of public figures, celebrities, politicians, or anyone with whom you have no familial or designated relationship
- Bypass, remove, alter, or attempt to defeat the inaudible watermark embedded in all generated audio
Harm to others
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, defame, or stalk any person
- Generate audio that constitutes hate speech, incitement to violence, or harassment of protected groups
- Generate audio depicting real people in degrading, sexual, or otherwise harmful scenarios
- Use voice content to manipulate, coerce, or abuse another person — including in domestic, custody, employment, or relational contexts
Sexual and explicit content
- Generate any sexually explicit, pornographic, or NSFW audio in any voice — yours or anyone else’s
- Generate any sexual content involving voices of minors. Period. We refer such cases to NCMEC and law enforcement automatically
Political and election content
- Generate audio of any candidate for public office, elected official, or political figure
- Generate audio intended to influence, deceive, or manipulate voters in any election
- Generate audio that violates state or federal deepfake / election integrity laws (Tennessee ELVIS Act, California AB-2655, AB-2839, federal NO FAKES Act when in force, and equivalent statutes)
Children
- Create voice profiles of minors under 18 unless you are the parent or legal guardian and have completed our minor-consent flow
- Use a minor’s voice profile in any context that could expose, exploit, or compromise the child’s safety, dignity, or privacy
Commercial misuse
- Resell, sublicense, or distribute voice profiles or generated audio as a product or service
- Use Heirloom Vocals output in advertising, marketing, or commercial promotional content for any product or service without explicit written authorization from us and documented consent from the voice subject (or their estate)
- Use the API or service to build a competing voice cloning product
- Scrape, mass-download, or systematically extract content from the service
Legal violations
Violate any applicable law, including but not limited to:
- State biometric privacy laws (Illinois BIPA, Texas CUBI, Washington’s biometric statute)
- State and federal voice rights and deepfake statutes
- Consumer protection and anti-fraud laws
- Defamation, harassment, and stalking laws
- Copyright and right-of-publicity laws
Watermarking and provenance
Every audio file generated through Heirloom Vocals contains:
- An inaudible cryptographic watermark embedded by ElevenLabs (our voice synthesis provider)
- Metadata identifying the file as generated, the source voice profile, and generation timestamp
These exist to help victims of misuse trace and prove provenance. Attempting to remove them violates this AUP.
Reporting misuse
If you believe a Heirloom Vocals voice clone has been used to impersonate, defame, or harm you or someone you know:
- Email: report@heirloomvocals.com
- Urgent (active threat):subject line “URGENT” — escalated within 4 hours during US business hours
Provide: the audio file or URL, your relationship to the voice subject, and any evidence of harm. We will investigate, suspend the responsible account during investigation, and remove the voice profile if misuse is confirmed.
For active threats to safety, contact local law enforcement first.

When we identify a violation, we may take any of the following actions, depending on severity, intent, and history:
- Warning + required acknowledgment
- Suspension pending investigation

- Permanent account termination
- Referral to law enforcement
- Legal action
Termination is final. We do not restore terminated accounts.

We do not accept appeals on terminations involving impersonation, fraud, sexual content, election content, or child-related violations.
